Driving instructions to Puolankoski In Kouvola (Jaala)
When driving on road 15 in direction of Kotka-Heinola, turn right a few km before Jaale (Tuohikotti/Verla/Selänpää). After about 5 km turn right (Puolakankoski) and drive to the shore (Patotie 45)

Fishing area
The rapid area starts from the dam and continues 200 m downstream. After this area boat fishing area starts. There are also a boat fishing area in the upstream side  from the dam, which continues up to Kamponen (mouth of Torasjoki river). Puolakankoski rapid is broad stretch, rocky and deep with strong water flow. Fish could be catch even in summer days. There are 2 Lapland style campfire place (Kota) in the area. Rules and terms could be found at the local notice board at the parking area.

Boat ramp
No boat ramp, but rowing boats could be taken down from the parking area. Past the dam through the boat pulling ramp.

Best fishing time and methods        
Spring and early summer, autumn. When the water level is high it is good to try lures that swim deep, e.g Jigs and leeches. Small wobblers should be used in the shallow water with big rocks. The west coast is suitable for fly-fishing (streamers and different wet-flies)
