The church of St. Henry in Pyhtää

The church dedicated to St. Henry was built around 1460 at the crossroads of the Pyhtää branch of the Kymijoki river and the Great Coastal Road or the “King’s Road”, leading from Turku to Vyborg. The original medieval façade of the church has remained virtually intact and it is not different from most of the other Finnish medieval churches made of grey granite. The belfry was built in the 1820s.
