The Pioneer Museum
The Pioneer Museum will open on July 1, 2007. Finland's oldest weapons museum is responsible for preserving pioneer-era weapons, researching them, exhibiting them and providing publications and training on the subject. The museum also offers information and guidance on the topic to both researchers and a large number of visitors. The Pioneer Museum's indoor exhibits recount pioneer activities during the fight for independence with exhibits, miniatures and photographs, and also explain weapons currently used for defence. Heavy weapons and equipment from the pioneer era are on exhibit outdoors. Hours of operation: July-September Wed.-Sun. 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Closed Mon. and Tue. Open to groups by reservation year round. Tickets: Adults 5€, children (7-16 years old) 2€, soldiers, students, retirees and the unemployed, no charge. Family tickets for two adults and one to three children 10€. www.pioneerimuseo.fi.
