Iitti, Vuolenkoski special fishing licence area

Driving instructions
When driving in direction of Kouvola-Heinola (road 15), turn from Jaala road sign to the left. Drive through kirkonkylä and continue along the road 363 (Kimola, Vierumäki). Drive a few kms and turn right (Vierumäki, Vuolenkosji). Turn left before Vuolenkoski bridge (Kömmistö). Drive about 600 m and park your car on the right side off-road (Kömmistöntie- the road goes to the power plant). Walk along the river approx.300 m (not suitable for physically challenged people).

Fishing area
Vuolenkoski special fishing licence area starts from below the power plant and continues about 1 km downstream. Pier fishing is permitted only from the east coast. Personal boats could be used. The river is about 70 m wide with a steady deep stream. The power plant causes turbulence.

Best fishing time and methods
Trout and Salmon: autumn- when water is cold and spring-before water is warm.
Whitefish: in summer when water is warm
Deep stream. Spinning from the pier and trolling from boat by using plugs and spoons
Casting/trolling. Additional weight could be necessary.
