Driving instrutions to Myllykoski Valkeala
When driving in direction of Kotka-Kouvola on road 15, turn right towards Mikkeli past Kouvola. In 1 km turn right towards Lautaro. Drive about 300 m and turn left to a sand road (Myllypadontie). Drive to the end of the road.
Jyräänkoski-Jokela consists of two sections: upstream and downstream of Käyrälampi (small lake). Myllykoski flows downstream from Käyrälampi and Paaskoski and Jyräänkoski rapids flow upstream. Myllykoski has a ground dam and is the widest rapid (about 25 m). It is very rocky and has been renovated. There are traces of old dam in Jyräänkoski (see follosing picture). During dry summers it is difficult to catch fish due to little water flow. Fishing area is about 1 km. Fly-fishing and spinning is permitted.

Spawn protection time 11.9-15.11. Angling with baits is prohibited in Jyrääjoki river and in
Myllypado dam: 30 m upstream from the dam, below the bridge on highway 15.

Best fishing time and methods
Spring and early summer, autumn. In summer time catch is possible only at dusk. Small wobblers and spinners are suitable in the shallow areas and jigs and leeches in the deeper areas. Small pupae and larvae are well suited. Steamers (fish reproduction) are good for evening and night fishing.
