Hamina, Summajoki lure fishing area

Driving instructions
Take highway 7 (Helsinki-Vaalimaa). When driving in direction of Kotka-Hamina, turn left in about 200 m before Hamina from the first roundabout (Lappeenranta, Sippola). Drive approx. 8 km and  turn left from Reitkalli towards Myllymäentie road and drive approx. 300 m to the bridge. You will reach the authorised fishing area, at the bottom of the rapid.

Fishing area
The lure fishing area covers 32 km of Summajoki. Silmunjoki and Kelkanjoki rivers shores as well as shore of Suurjärvi lake. The rapids are generally shallow and rocky (specially in late summer when the water level is low). Water in Summajoki river is strongly coloured by humus.

Spawn protection time: 11.9 to 15.11
Licence buyers of 18-64 years of age must have a valid state fishing license.
Angling with natural baits are prohibited (in rapids and streamy areas)
Only one rod/lure

Prohibited areas        
Silmukoski and Laurinkoski rapids of Silmujoki river are prohibited fishing areas
The local lakes (except Suurjärvi lake).

Best fishing time and methods
Sea trout: beginning of April to June + the rest of the season
Pike-perch in June-August
The best fishing method is to use small fly fishing rod or spin fishing rod
Small spoons, wobblers and wet flies and streamers during the night
